Second third of the barn floor replaced

The first two thirds of the new barn floor are now down! In some places there are spacers that are 4 inches high just to make the floor level. So our shop has gained a little bit of head room, but the upstairs has lost some. Should not be too bad though because we still have about 20′ to the peak in the roof and we are planning to take advantage with cathedral ceilings. We have chalked our layout on to the new subfloor, causing some pretty heated debates about what should go where. It has been arranged and re-arranged a few times but I think we are finally happy with it…until tomorrow anyway 🙂

Overall it took a little bit longer than we would have liked – we are now pushing 3 weeks for the second third of the floor – but now it’s done and we can move on. It means we are going to have to speed up the pace for the wall framing, ceiling and insulating if it’s going to be done by winter but we aren’t worried (…do you like the confidence?). Anyways, it will be nice to be able to set up the shop again and take the tarps off of the machines. A good milestone for our barn reno!
